Where the entry-level openings are
The share of entry-level openings depends on the kind of work. Across every country, machine learning and AI engineering (16%), HR (14%) and finance (14%) have the most; engineering management the fewest (1%).

India's open jobs are entry level less often than the US's (8% against 12%), and in engineering the gap is wider: 44 of 1,429 backend jobs and 16 of 518 full-stack jobs are entry level.

"Entry level" rarely means no experience. 27% of entry-level jobs state a minimum number of years; of those, 79% ask for at least a year and 29% for two or more. The median asked is 1 year.
Indian entry-level postings state a minimum more often (50% of them), and 73% of those ask for at least a year, 26% for two or more.

The skills entry-level jobs ask for most
A job counts a skill once, whether it names it once or five times. Microsoft Excel leads entry-level jobs (16%), with Python close behind (15%). In India Microsoft Excel leads; in the US, Python.
Remote and pay
Remote work and pay, at entry level
4% of entry-level jobs are remote, against 10% of all open jobs. In the US it is 5% against 15%; in India, 40 entry-level jobs are remote.
