Your first resume
What an ATS reads on a fresher's resume
An ATS parses every resume into the same fields: contact details, education, job titles, employers, dates and skills. Recruiters then search those fields. A fresher's resume fills them differently: education and projects come first, and internships stand in for a career.
So the parts that are there must be easy to find. A heading the parser cannot place, or a date it cannot read, takes the experience you do have out of the search. Rezifi's free ATS check shows you which parts it found.
Step by step
How to write a fresher resume an ATS can read
Six steps, in the order a first resume reads, top to bottom.
Contact details at the top
Your name, a personal email, a phone number and your LinkedIn URL, as text at the top of the page. A college email stops working after you graduate. The check names any detail it cannot find.
Education first
Your degree, college, city and years, with your CGPA or percentage beside it. With no full-time job yet, this is what a recruiter reads first. The check flags an education entry with no school or no dates.
Projects, with what you built
Name each project and its year, then one or two lines on what you built and the tools you used. Final-year projects, hackathons and course projects all count.
Internships under Experience
Internships, part-time work, freelance work and positions of responsibility go under a heading called Experience, each with a title, an organisation and dates. The check looks for an Experience section and names it when it is missing.
Skills in the posting's words
List the tools and skills you can talk about in an interview, named the way job postings name them. Skills by role shows what open jobs ask for.
Check it, then fix it
Drop it into the checker at the top of this page, no sign-up. Sign up free to apply the fixes in one click, then tailor it to each job you apply for.
What the check flags
What the free check flags on a first resume
It is the same free check every resume gets, scored out of 100 the way an ATS and a recruiter read it. On a first resume, these are the lines to watch. Each problem is named on its own line, and the free ATS score checker page explains the whole score.

Then the job
Your first resume, tailored to every job
A fresher applies to many jobs, and each posting asks for its own skills. Rezifi's tailor rewrites your bullets, summary and skills in each job's own keywords and never invents an employer, role, date or credential, so your projects and internships say what each job asks for.
Every job's keywords
Your resume, tailored to each posting.
Nothing made up
No invented employer, role, date or credential.
Your own resume
From Word or Google Docs, in its own design.

FAQ
Fresher resumes: common questions
Is the ATS resume checker free for freshers?
Yes. Freshers use the same free check as everyone, with no account and no card. Upload a Word file or a PDF and see your score out of 100, what a machine reads from your resume and every fix. A check you do not keep is deleted within 24 hours. Sign up free, no card needed, to apply the fixes in one click.
What should a fresher put on a resume instead of work experience?
Education, projects, internships and skills. Put your degree, college and years first, then your projects with what you built and the tools you used, then any internship, part-time job or position of responsibility under an Experience heading, then your skills in the words job postings use.
Does the check mark a fresher down for having no work experience?
It looks for an Experience section on every resume, so a resume with none gets that one note. An internship, a part-time job, freelance work or a position of responsibility under an Experience heading answers it. Everything else is checked the same way for a fresher as for anyone, and every fix is listed on its own line.
Does the ATS check read projects and internships?
Yes. What a machine reads shows each entry it found, projects and internships included. The check looks for a title, an employer and dates on each job or internship, and for a school and dates on each education entry.
Should a fresher's resume be one page?
One page is usually enough for a first resume: your education, two or three projects, an internship and your skills fit on it. If your own resume runs a little onto a second page, Fit to 1 page in the Rezifi editor tightens only the spacing in one click, never your font size or your margins.
Is a resume template ATS-friendly for a fresher?
Rezifi's templates are ATS-friendly, and Rezifi builds a resume from your notes, your LinkedIn profile or a PDF. Whatever template you start from, check that no template text is left in: the check flags lines like [Company Name] or Lorem ipsum.
