To set up a job alert that sends the right jobs, build the search first and save it only when the results on screen are ones you would apply to. Narrow it by place, remote, seniority and the skills you have, keep one alert for each kind of role, and choose daily or weekly by how fast you want to move.
Most alerts go wrong at the first step: someone types a job title, presses the alert button and gets a stream of postings that merely contain the words. This guide shows how to build a search worth saving, how often to have it sent, and how Rezifi's job board saves a search and emails you only its new jobs.

Why do job alerts send the wrong jobs?
A plain alert matches words. Search for “Microsoft” and it can send you every posting that mentions Microsoft, from partners, resellers and recruiters, not only Microsoft's own jobs. Search for “manager” and you get every manager in every field.
The second cause is a search saved before anyone looked at it. If the first page of results is wrong today, the email will be wrong every day after. The fix is the same on any job site: run the search, read the results, tighten it, and save it only then.
How to build a search worth saving
- Start with the role and one skill. “Data analyst SQL” finds analysts who use SQL. A title alone finds every analyst; a skill alone finds every job that mentions it.
- Add the place. Pick the city or cities you would really work in, or remote. A search without a place is a search of the whole country.
- Set seniority and the kind of job. Full time or internship, fresher or senior: each one cuts the jobs you would never apply to.
- Look at how recent the jobs are. For an alert, the date filter matters less, because the alert only sends what is new. For the search you run today, the last week or two is usually enough.
- Read the first page. If more than a few results are wrong, tighten the words or the filters before you save. If almost nothing comes back, widen one thing at a time.
One alert or several?
Several narrow alerts beat one broad one. A product analyst who would also take a data analyst role should save two searches, each with its own words. That way each email can be read in a minute, and a search that sends nothing useful can go without losing the other.
Name each search for what it finds, such as “Data analyst, Bengaluru” or “Product design, remote”. When the emails arrive, the name tells you at a glance which search found the job.
Daily or weekly: how often should job alerts come?
- Daily suits an active search: new jobs reach you every day, and you can apply while they are fresh.
- Weekly suits a search you keep running in the background, or a narrow one that finds a job or two a week.
- Off suits a search you only want to open yourself. Saved searches still show what is new on the board.
Whatever you pick, check after a week. An alert you delete unread is noise; tighten it or remove it.
How Rezifi's saved searches and job alerts work
On Rezifi's Jobs board, every search you run can be saved with one press, and the board keeps it with every filter it ran with. Here is what happens next:
- Save search. Press Save search at the end of the filters line. The search joins “Your searches” at once, and its card opens so you can name it, turn its email off, or choose Daily or Weekly. The email is on unless you turn it off.
- Only what is new. A job counts as new the first time Rezifi sees it. A job posted in several places counts once, and a job you hid or applied to, a company you muted, or a closed job never counts.
- One email at most a day. Every search with something new goes in the same email, each with its newest jobs and how many are new. When nothing is new, nothing is sent.
- Your fit on every job. A press runs the search on the board, where every job shows its fit with your own resume as a word, the skills you have and the gaps. “Your searches” on the board say how many jobs are new.
- Stop in one click. Every email has a link to stop that search's emails and one to stop every alert. The search's card and your account page's Job alerts card do the same, and the search stays saved.
The search box does the hard part of building the search for you. Type “data analyst in pune” and it reads Pune as the place; type “remote” or “work from home” and it applies remote. Type a company's exact name and it searches that company's own jobs, not jobs that mention it. “Developers” finds “developer”, and “C++” stays C++. Your recent searches wait under the box, and a search that finds nothing offers what does have jobs, with the count.
| Feature | Rezifi | A plain keyword alert |
|---|---|---|
| A company's name finds its own jobs | Yes | No |
| Reads the place from your words | Yes | No |
| “Developers” also finds “developer” | Yes | No |
| A job posted twice is counted once | Yes | No |
| Leaves out jobs you hid or applied to | Yes | No |
| Your resume's fit shown on every job | Yes | No |
What to do when a good job arrives
An alert only finds the job. Before you apply, tailor your resume to the job description: Rezifi's tailor, the best AI resume tailor, rewrites your bullets, summary and skills in each job's own keywords, never invents an employer, role, date or credential, and works on a copy so your original is untouched. It works on your own resume from Word or Google Docs, no template needed, and keeps every bit of your layout. No resume yet? Build one from Rezifi's ATS-friendly templates.
Then Rezifi's auto-apply copilot fills the whole application on any job site, even one it has never seen, page after page, and attaches your resume. It answers from your resume and everything it learns about you, so every application is faster than the last. You press Submit. Rezifi keeps track of every resume you send, and every tailored version is saved.
Questions people ask
How do I set up a job alert?
Run a search on a job board with the role, a skill you have, the place and your seniority, check that the first page of results is right, then save it with email turned on. On Rezifi's Jobs board, press Save search and choose a daily or weekly email.
Why are my job alerts not relevant?
Most alerts match the words you typed, so a broad title or a company name brings every posting that contains it. Add a skill, a place and a seniority level, and read the results before you save the search. Several narrow alerts work better than one broad one.
Should I get job alerts daily or weekly?
Daily suits an active search, because new jobs reach you every day. Weekly suits a narrow search or one you keep running in the background. Rezifi's job alerts offer both and send nothing on a day with no new jobs.
How many job alerts should I have?
One for each kind of role you would really apply to, each narrow enough that its email can be read in a minute. Remove any alert you keep deleting unread.
Are Rezifi's job alerts free?
Yes. Saved searches and their job alert emails are free on Rezifi, and the job feed is free to use. You can stop the emails for one search or for all of them with the link in any alert, and your searches stay saved.
Build the search once, save it, and let the new jobs come to you: open Rezifi's job board, save your first search, tailor your resume to each job worth it, and let the auto-apply copilot fill the form.
